Alligators have apparently been spotted on the neighborhood streets of rain soaked Melbourne, Florida. This is not so surprising. I’ve lived on the west coast of the state for many years, and the sight of alligators posed like living logs at nearby ponds is a common sight. And I imagine in Melbourne you see them more frequently than in Clearwater.
So with all that rain, they probably just float right out of the ponds and wherever the current has them drift. Apparently right up your street.
This could be alarming, although people are seldom attacked. Pets could be another story. I’ve heard about the occasional unwary dog being nabbed by these giant reptiles.
If it were me, I’d keep out of those flooded streets. Alligators are pretty fast when they’re hungry!
